Women’s Retreat for Corporate Leaders

August 13, 2024by MFS Admin0

Mindfully Sorted has been conducting leadership retreats since last few years, apart from our open retreats.

This time we worked with a group of Managers in Chennai from an AI/ Analytics based Global Firm.  A very interesting perspective evolved through our activities and stories and taking this opportunity to share the same.

‘Being Humble’ is a complicated state!

At Mindfully Sorted‘s recent corporate retreat for women managers in Chennai,  we nailed the elephant in the room by the end of the day. Day 2 was only focused on drilling the myths of ‘Humble’.

So what did humble mean as a collective consciousness of the group? The shadows in actions..

💃🏻 Not to “Show-off” / your achievements, background, experiences

😇Not to be ‘Strong-headed’/ looking for validation, no disruptions

👉 Not to be ‘Angry’/ polite, soft spoken, not too pushy, do not confront

and the biggest one..

🚫Don’t say no/ stretch the maximum / discomfort of saying no

However, while trying to be ‘Humble’, what is happening?

✨ To avoid ‘Show-off’, we are not even ‘Showcasing, and expecting the world to discover our true worth

✨ To avoid labels like ‘Strong-Headed’ ‘Temperamental’ and ‘Angry’ , we play the victim card, stay docile, express negative emotions as ‘gossip’ to co-workers, feel frustrated and burnout rapidly

✨ We avoid saying ‘No’ to keep everyone happy, be the people pleaser, exhausting our mental and physical stamina

If you think you are ‘Humble’ do rethink why so…and peel the layers of it. You will find interesting facts about yourself.

Of course, we spent day 2 dissecting some root causes and approaches to break these inner barriers and patterns.

Every individual is different even in a group, every group is different even within the same organisation. The best we can do is uplift the awareness and open up curious minds, give a safe space to be their authentic self and let the magic unfold.
